2016 Winners 

 

Mu Kappa Tau Scholarship $1,500

Cole Decker, Ohio University

Cole Decker, from Hilliard, Ohio, is studying business in the Honors Tutorial College at Ohio University. In addition to his involvement in MKT, Cole is a Founding Fellow of the Consumer Research Center in the College of Business, and is the former president of the university's American Marketing Association chapter. Cole realized his passion for marketing research by working on academic projects related to brand personality, customer satisfaction, and co-branding with Dr. Katherine Hartman and Dr. Timothy Hartman, professors of marketing. Cole will be writing a thesis utilizing experimental design during the 2015-16 school year related to destination branding and eWOM. After he graduates in 2016, Cole plans to work in marketing research or customer analytics. Cole's dream jobs include managing a world-class brand and consulting with companies facing explosive growth to help control and shape their brand's identity. 

 

 

G.M. Naidu Scholarship $500

Matthew Adler, Louisiana State University

Matt Adler was born and raised in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and is in his fourth year studying in the E. J. Ourso College of Business at Louisiana State University. On campus involvement has included his extensive work with his fraternity, Theta Xi, which he served as Associate Member President, Chapter Secretary, and Chapter Treasure on its Executive Council. For the past year, Matt has been working as the intern in the Development Office at Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center, assisting in the planning and implementation of a $25 million Major Gifts Campaign and numerous other fundraising initiatives that support cancer patients throughout the Gulf South. He discovered a passion for marketing as a junior in high school when he and a group of friends started a not-for-profit, successfully raising funds for an educational mission in Mozambique, Africa. The focus of Matt’s senior thesis project for the LSU Ogden Honors College will be on that same mission by spearheading a marketing and awareness campaign to increase support. After the completion of his undergraduate courses in December 2016, Matt is looking forward to either a graduate program or job opportunity to fulfill his passion for marketing and social entrepreneurship.

Charlene Dadzie, University of North Texas

Charlene Dadzie recently completed her Ph.D. at the University of North Texas (UNT) and is also currently  a Teaching Fellow in the Department of Marketing & Logistics. Prior to joining the doctoral program at UNT, Charlene completed doctoral coursework in Management at the University of Pittsburgh and obtained a Master’s degree in Industrial and Labor Relations (MILR) from Cornell University. She holds a Bachelor’s of Art (BA) in History from the University of Georgia. Charlene has worked for Accenture as a Consulting Analyst and for General Electric as a Human Resources Leadership Program Intern.

 

 

UPS Sponsored Undergraduate Student Scholarship $750

Morgan Kubic, Ohio University

Morgan Kubic is currently a senior at Ohio University. She is studying Marketing, Communications, and International Business and will be graduating in April 2016. She is part of Mu Kappa Tau (co-president), American Marketing Association, Alpha Lambda Delta National Honors Society, and the American Advertising Federation. She has completed several internships including the Global Consulting Program in Ancona, Italy and is currently interning with the creative agency, ZenGenius. She has recently acquired an Inbound Marketing certification as well as an International Cultural Understanding certification. Morgan hopes to one day further her education and obtain a Master’s Degree.

 

 

Pi Sigma Epsilon and Mu Kappa Tau Member Scholarship $1,500

Samantha Rutowski, Rider University

Samantha Rutowski is a junior at Rider University, originally from Brick, New Jersey. She is a triple major in International Business, Marketing and Global Supply Chain Management, with a minor in Spanish. Her intended graduation is in May 2017 where she will receive her B.A in Business Administration. During her time at Rider University, Samantha has been an active member of her marketing, sales and management fraternity Pi Sigma Epsilon as VP of Public Relations and general member. She also for a majority of her school years served with the Bonner Community Scholars Program to complete over 600 hours of community service in the span of two years. When Samantha has spare time during her busy schedule, she enjoys reading, watching movies and spending time with friends.

Mu Kappa Tau Scholarship $200

Briann Downes, Rider University

Briann Downes is a student at Rider University who double majors in Marketing and International Business in the Business Honors Program. She is a member of the Rider University Cross Country and Track and Field Team. Briann is involved in the Johnson and Johnson Case Competition, "Unified" Special Olympics Bowling, and the International Business Club. She excels both in the classroom and on the track and therefore, has been honored consistently with Dean's List and the Rider University Gold Honor for Scholar Athletes.

2015 Mu Kappa Tau Scholarship Winner
Katie Krueger - University of Wisconsin - Whitewater

Katie Krueger is in her fourth year at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, with plans to graduate in May 2016. Her passion for business and the arts has led her to pursue dual degrees: a BBA in Marketing and a BFA in Theatre Management/Promotion. She is part of Mu Kappa Tau, Beta Gamma Sigma (past Vice President), Theta Alpha Phi (past Vice President, past Secretary) and the Dean’s Student Advisory Board for the College of Arts & Communication, as well as serving as a student representative for the Theatre/Dance Department.  In addition, Katie has appeared onstage or backstage in eight UW-Whitewater Theatre/Dance productions—her favorite being The Drowsy Chaperone. She has completed internships with Skylight Music Theatre, the United Performing Arts Fund, and American Players Theatre, and currently interns at the Sharon Lynne Wilson Center for the Arts. In the future, she plans to attend graduate school for arts management and work in marketing or development for a non-profit arts organization.
